According to a research firm, Strategy Analytics, Samsung Galaxy A51 becomes the most selling Android smartphone in the world by shipping more than 6 million units across the world. It happened in first quarter of 2020 when Galaxy A51 enjoyed over 2% of market share, beating Redmi 8 by Xiaomi which ranked second among the most popular Android smartphones in the world.
In Q1 2020, international smartphone shipments crossed over 275 million units. Android smartphones ruled the market with 86% share across the world. Android smartphones were sold in huge numbers, according to Director at Strategy Analytics, Linda Sui.
The Boston-based firm also stated that Xiaomi’s Redmi range is also doing well in Chinese and Indian markets and increasingly making its presence in Europe. With 1.7% market share, Samsung Galaxy S20+ ranked third. Galaxy A51 is the most selling Android smartphone in Asia and Europe. Redmi 8 from Chinese smartphone maker took 1.9% in the first quarter of 2020.
Especially in the post-Coronavirus period, mobile phone buyers are increasingly becoming price sensitive and looking for getting the most of what they spend, especially in terms of buying Android smartphones. It also goes without saying that Android has eventually entered the post-premium segment.
There has been no lack in affordable and mid-range models which raised the competition in Android smartphone market. Over the years, subsidies have been reduced by a lot of mobile operators and a lot of nations are trying hard to survive the post-virus reception. Across the world, smartphone buyers are even more focused on price and are looking for most selling Android smartphone to get the best bang for their bucks, according to Strategy Analytics’ Associate Director, Juha Winter.
Following the leads are Galaxy A10s, Redmi Note 8, and Galaxy A20s in the 4th, 5th and 6th positions respectively. It is another sign that customers want to get what they pay for. Devices with decent specs at cost-effective prices are all they want.
The current price of Samsung Galaxy A51 (at the time of writing this post) is Rs. 23,999 for base 6GB/128GB variant and Rs. 25,999 for upper 8GB/128GB variant, according to Samsung’s official website.
